Our Trip to Utah

We've been in Utah almost a week. Lots has been going on and it has been busy, busy, busy.
  • When we first arrived I was surprised at all the mail I had here--loot from two giveaways. Wedding photos from Chris and Heather's as well as Amanda and Darren's weddings
  • Kyle is settled in his dorm and seems to be adjusting, but then again CLASSES HAVE NOT STARTED YET ; )
  • Obviously we celebrated Allan and Brent's birthdays. I chuckled when I saw this term on a card for a husband and I thought it fit Allan to a T--hubbilicious ; ) Got such a kick out of this picture.
  • We visited Heidi in her classroom with her new group of 1st Graders. Wow, she has 25 this year. She is a great teacher. She even had a "Happy Birthday" certificate for her daddy.
  • Went to see Julie and Julia--such a cute movie.
  • Yesterday Allan and I took a drive to Huntsville to visit two blogging buddies. Their families own a restaurant called "Texas Pride Barbecue". I've read all about it and it was so fun to finally see it. It is so cute. (And they sent us home with some barbeque, salads, beans and some pecan pie--CAN YOU SAY DELICIOUS!!!!) Any of you who live in the area--it is so worth the drive. I have never been to that area--it is so beautiful. I loved meeting Sheri and Corrine. They are just adorable. We had a chance to visit for a little over an hour. It was wonderful. When we started visiting, it was so comfortable. That's what I love about meeting blogging friends--you already "know" each other so you just start talking like you were visiting the other day--because really you did visit on each other's blogs. It was fun meeting their husbands and children, too.
  • On Friday we had lunch with The M's. It is always so fun to visit with them. They are trying to get caught up on 24 (they missed 3 seasons)
  • I couldn't tell you how many trips we've made to the Distribution Center and Deseret Book. But, one of my favorite things has been being on campus--just have to restrain myself from following Kyle around Monday morning ; )
  • Had fun playing Rockband this afternoon with the kids--loved this shot of Kyle singing and playing guitar.
  • Looking forward to having Sunday dinner with my kids--I'm going to enjoy every minute because I doubt it will happen again until December when they come home at Christmas.

How are you adjusting to having an empty nest?

Enjoy your Sunday dinner with all your kids!
Looks like Kyle is going to be having a great time.
Prepare for some emotions when you get home and walk into that empty house!

I'm glad you're having such a wonderful trip.
Kyle will do great. He will have lots of awesome experiences going to school there. He will meet lots of great people. Happy for him.
Be safe on your trip home.

I love Heidi's hair...
and what a special treat to see two blogging-buddies. YOU are so good to take the time to see everyone you can... I could take a lesson or two on that. I just get focused on the have-to's and skip the want to's... most of the time anyway.

Have you ever asked Heidi if she'd be interested in moving to Oregon? Blake is going to be a first grader this year..hint hint.

Glad you got Kyle all settled in.

1. Where is Huntsville?
2. How long did it take you to drive there?
3. Kyle will love it.
4. Does this mean more trips to Utah for you since you have a few kiddos here?
5. Have a great time with your family and a safe trip home.

I don't know why I felt the need use numbers. Lack of sleep, I think. ;)

heffalump: We'll see when we get home the end of the week. I'm sure THERE WILL BE TEARS.

connie: We had a great dinner.

I know it's going to be hard.

natalie: It has been great.

Thanks.

sheila: I'll tell Heidi what you said about her hair.

It was so fun meeting sheri and corrine.

neal: You'll have to go there some day--it really is a beautiful place.

aurora: The barbeque was so yummy.

tonya: You are too funny ; )

I'm glad Kyle is settled, too.

corrine: We were so glad to meet you. I'll let you know about sending the kids ; )

You're welcome.

klin: Huntsville is near Ogden. (I'm horrible with directions, so that's the best I can do) It's a little over an hour and a half away.

I think Kyle will do fine, but going from a small high school to BYU can be overwhelming.

I'm assuming having the kids here will mean more trips to Utah, but it all depends on Allan's employment situation.

We have had such a great time with the kids. Now that Brent and Kyle have started school and Heidi is gone all day, we'll probably not see them too much over the next few days.

Thanks.

sheri: We loved coming to the restaurant and meeting you guys. It was so fun for us.

Thanks.

mindylou: They were soooooo good.

I LOVE going to Huntsville. It's so pretty up there. I've eaten in that same restaurant building before, but it was a different restaurant then. I'll have to check it out! :)
