What I Know Wednesday--The Value of Counting My Blessings

There are days that I get up and find I have a pretty lousy attitude. I have found that the only solution is to stop and count my blessings. I'm grateful for prayer each morning which causes me to get on my knees and begin giving gratitude for all that I have. I have found it is very helpful for me to really "name them one by one".

So today, I'm grateful for--not in any particular order:
  • This beautiful world we live in
  • My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me and is mindful of me
  • The Plan of Salvation
  • A husband who loves me in spite of all my flaws
  • The opportunity to be a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother
  • Being able to go to the cupboard or the refrigerator and get food to eat
  • A body that still moves--sometimes
  • A brain that still works--sometimes
  • Children who are very wise
  • Children who make me laugh
  • I'm even grateful for children who cause me to shed a few tears
  • The opportunity to travel to spend time with family
  • The chance to take Kyle down to BYU--I will be there his first day and WILL NOT FOLLOW HIM TO HIS FIRST CLASS TO TAKE A PICTURE ; )
  • My bathtub
  • My computer
  • Good friends
  • My sisters
  • Living in a free country
  • The scriptures

Speaking of not taking pictures of Kyle at his first day at BYU, all those years that I took pictures of my kids the first day of school, I always took the same picture. I read a post here the other day and ABSOLUTELY LOVED the ideas. I will have to pass this on to Daph--the only one of my children who has kids in school.

Now, how about you, what are you grateful for today?

I'm grateful that I was first to post! ;) No seriously, I'm grateful that I got a good night's sleep...sort of! :)

How fun to see Kyle off to school. I'm always worried I'll be that type of Mom that follows her kids around with a camera saying "That's my boy!" LOL! I'd love to see you when you're in town. E-mail me if you're interested! :)

"WILL NOT FOLLOW HIM TO HIS FIRST CLASS TO TAKE A PICTURE ; )"

Are you trying to convince me? :D

Should you follow him to class.....I could meet you, and bring my momma- since she works at the Y, and we could eat on campus.

I'm pretty old fashioned with my picture taking. It also fits the template for my digital scrapbooking, but I really like how those pics turned out. I might have to try them.

I think it would be awesome if you followed him to class to take his picture...

Was the NO PHOTO at first day BYU a promise you made to Kyle? Funny you!

I would have also put sometimes after "children who are very wise!"
I'm grateful that I don't have to sit in the emergency room tonight with 2 sisters from the ward. I can get some sleep in my own bed!

I also have many other blessings I'm grateful for! Have fun taking Kyle to school. Picture or no picture, he'll have a good first day, I'm sure.

Perspective is always the solution. I don't always remember that - but it's true.

Here's to hoping that I'm one of the kids that makes you laugh ; )

I love your "grateful things". I'm grateful for the same things that you are except for two. I'm not taking Kyle to school, although I would, if you wanted me to.:) I don't have any sisters.
Instead I will put down that I am grateful to be on a mission and I am grateful for the aweseome young adults I work with.

I'm grateful for many things! :)

Right now I'm especially grateful that Ty is walking better and started back with his lawn mowing business this week, after 8 weeks of being unable to work. I'm grateful that Lauren and Ted are having a great time together on their anniversary trip! I'm grateful that Zach started Seminary this year and is enjoying it! :)

I think it is tough to be wise ALL THE TIME ; )

corrine: So important to stop and see all we have. I know I need to do it every day.

BTW, thanks.

I love your idea. Is it awful that when I'm in a mood - I don't even remember that there IS a way out of it?

Zach's junior high has release time for Seminary during the school day. There are two classes offered, and he has it second hour, along with MANY of his friends! :)
