A Bit of a Tough Day

As we pulled out of the driveway of my SIL's house today, it was tough. I'm a big girl, I've done it before, I've left my kids here at BYU before, dropped them off at the MTC, had them move away, but still THIS IS MY BABY.

We have had a glorious time in Utah. I love all my kids and it's always glorious when we are together. Knowing these three are here together and have each other makes it all easier.

Just to give you a little peek into how fun they are--some pics we took the other night. I posted some of these on FB so if you may have seen them there:
We had dinner at a fun little chinese buffet place. We ate too much, had some great laughs, and I LOVED WHEN KYLE LEFT THE TIP ; )

Before Kyle and Brent left for their dorm and apartment, I said we needed to get some pics. Thank goodness for my gorillapod--I was even able to get in a pic.

I hope Kyle is better at following directions at school ; )

A silly family picture is a tradition

When I was taking these, I'm surprised the picture is not blurry because I was laughing so hard--and obviously, so were Heidi and Brent.

The kids just love their dad's bald head (have to admit they are grateful to know that baldness is hereditary on the mom's side--my dad a full head of hair ; ) I had commented that it looks like Kyle is rubbing his dad's head in hopes that his wishes will come true. I liked Neal's explanation more--"or hair will grow"

Like I mentioned above, silliness is a tradition in our picture taking experience--AND OBVIOUSLY SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE ; )

But this is the one that I will keep close

SIDENOTE:We arrived here in Jackson Hole, and we are staying at the same place we stayed at back in 1994. Of course, on a day like today, I could only think of THIS.

Somehow THIS just wasn't the same ; (

Utah will always welcome you! I secretly hope you move here so we can hang out more.

Ok, now you made me cry...with that last picture of you and the bear, minus the kids! I often wonder where the time has gone and how did the kids grow up so quickly!?!

I love all of the family pictures. It sure looks like all of you enjoy spending time with each other. Fun times for sure!

I am not looking forward to the day when all my kids are gone, I hope they will have as many fond memories as yours do.

How'd you swing that!?

I think it would be very tough indeed. At least they all have each other close by... and I am sure you will find something to do.

Big hugs you Yvonne. Time just goes by way to fast. I'm sure it was hard to leave. You have done a great job raising them. I love your old pictures that you post.

Your family looks so fun! I'm glad you have so many pics to remind you of that.

It's amazing to see that the bear is still there and just about everything is there after 15 years, with no real changes, except for the fact that we aren't there to hug the bear.

I love all your pics from long ago. I am sure you will miss having a kid home but think of all the fun trips you can take to visit all of them.

I hope you have a safe trip home and that you were able to enjoy Jackson! I'm sure you've had wonderful memories there with the kids!

I love all those pictures. :-)

Good luck, to everyone! In all the things you all are doing.

I'm afraid I'm not very good at moving between phases in life - I tend to get wedged into my comfort zones and then get antsy when being pushed out of them. So I don't have any advice or words of wisdom for you.

Besides. You're more wise than most people I know anyway! So I'm sure you'll be fine. ;-)

Cheers and Hugs.

I love your silly family picture tradition! What great memories. And Yvonne, you look as beautiful now as you did then...yes, how DID you do that?!

Some days I wish for an empty house...but the last picture just made me sad enough to be happy with a full house. Have a ((hug)) from California... :)

I love all these pictures! What treasures they are! :)

I really feel for you...I'm completely certain I'll be a wreck when Zach leaves on his mission in a few years! (Grateful, but a wreck nonetheless!)

Wonderful family shots! And I think it is a completely different story when it's your baby. I felt a hint of that when I dropped mine at preschool. The end of an era!

I love your family pictures!! What great kids you have. We may have to take up the silly picture theme... maybe they'd be willing to smile first if they knew they got to pull faces after ;)

heidi: Oh, we miss you, too. Thank goodness for telephones and, of course, the internet.

neal: Some things are just very important to me.

corrine: Not amazing, just a memory like a steal trap--which sometimes is not a good thing.

Thanks for the hugs.

klin: You are never intruding ; ) Like I said, I just remember things like that

I'm sure I'll be back more often now.

linda: Yes, time goes by much too quickly.

We do have a great time together. I'm a VERY HAPPY MAMA.

txmommy: You are always making great memories. I'm sure you had such a great time with tatum.

nobody: You must be kidding--the wrinkles and droopy eyes are OBVIOUS.

sheila: I'm sure I can keep myself busy. I am very glad they have each other.

tonya: Oh thank you, sweetie.

They are all great kids.

heffalump: I'm grateful for the memories and the pictures.

brent: I would have much rather had you guys there with the bear ; )

chantel: I treasure them all.

aurora: Oh I don't think so, but thanks.

It's hard, but I know it will be o.k.

sweetpea: You have a long time--enjoy each and every day.

tori: Thanks, tori. Appreciate the hugs.

annie: Thanks--I know you understand because I know you are missing amanda.

sheri: It was a great trip home. Thank you so much.

jess: I will have a great time visiting them whenever I can. I'm grateful that we can all keep in touch.

suzanne: It was wonderful to spend time with them. Memories are GREAT.

magirk: Thanks--your comment made me wonder what it would be like without my camera.

It's hard to get out of our comfort zones.

I don't know about wise, but thank you.

mindylou: Thank you so much.

The empty house will come soon enough--some days are easier than others, aren't they.

nancyface: Yes they are treausres. Thank you.

Maybe Zach will follow in Ty's footsteps and come to Canada--maybe Winnipeg--we'd love to feed him here ; )

amber: I know Kyle wouldn't appreciate being referred to as the baby, but HE IS.

melissa: It always helps to do the silly picture.
Give it a try.

You will have to bring all your grandkids to J.H. and take a picture at the bear. A new generation and a whole new set of memories to make.

I thought about you and hoped you were doing okay leaving your baby behind. Keep smiling. He's in a good place!
