Take Me Out to the Ball Game

I've mentioned before that when I was little, I was the son my dad never had. (My dad had 6 daughters) I read the sports page and followed the Giants with my dad. Back in 1962, my dad took me to Candlestick Park to watch the Giants play. (Such a great memory for me)

Stephen and Daphne and their little family are huge Giants fans. I mentioned that I would love to go to the Giants park--I've always thought it looked so cool on TV. Well, they got tickets and last night we went to the game. We had a blast and the bonus--THE GIANTS WON!!!!

So a few shots from the game:

Drew and his dad walking to the stadium from the car.

Georgia received a certificate for attending her first game. She was such a good girl--I can't say she enjoyed the game since she slept through most of it.

I got a little nostalgic walking into the stadium--seeing all the pictures of former Giants players like Willie Mays, Orlando Cepada, Willie McCovey and Juan Marichal. I loved all the statues. It was just so cool--I sure thought a lot about my dad. (I wish B could have been with us, but he has been at a High Adventure Camp this week. Funny thing--his favorite umpire (who is very animated) was behind the plate. I tried to get a pic of him calling third strike, but I didn't get it.

We got to our seats which were in the upper deck. I think it's all about the experience, so I didn't care where we sat.

I love the park--it is GREAT. Drew and Hannah went over to the Coca Cola slide--SO COOL. They also went to the Build a Bear workshop and brought back some little friends. Drew also batted at the little park where he did a great job of hitting the ball. I did manage to get a picture of the slide.

A couple more of my favorite photos--little Drew all dressed in his Giants gear.

Like I said, I loved seeing the statues. This one really touched me because it reminded me of watching Juan Marichal pitch--he had a style that was so unique. (And, it was fun last night seeing the reliever, Brian Wilson with his orange shoes--unique.)

Georgia with her mom and dad after the game. She was nice and warm all bundled up and I LOVED HOLDING HER BECAUSE SHE KEPT ME WARM ; )

Drew held on to his little puppy throughout the game. (I loved his little Giants outfit--especially his little scarf)

And yes, I did have a hot dog--along with a churro and some cotton candy ; )

It was an exciting game complete with 5 home runs and Buster Posey continuing his hitting streak. (Must admit it would be fun to go this weekend when the Giants play those pesky Dodgers ; )

SIDENOTE: My sweet husband overnighted photo CD's from our little elder. It was so fun to see them and especially to watch the little video clips. He's doing great. Too many picures to chose from, but because this one really makes me smile, I'll include it. The reason I love it--this is the day he arrived in Pocatello. When I see missionaries here when they arrive, they look so nervous--HE LOOKS SO HAPPY.

AND FINALLY, I will do a better job of visiting blogs once I get home--I'm just having too much fun with all the little ones here.

Looks like too much fun! Great pictures of the whole experience!

I'm keeping my eyes out for that Elder. I hope he won't be too freaked out if some Idaho lady runs up and gives him a big old hug for his mama.

The best part of that ballpark - the garlic fries!!! When I worked at Sega, we used to walk to the ballpark from my office (only a couple of blocks away).

While I miss Candlestick, there is nothing like AT&T Park. It is such an awesome place to watch baseball!

My E went to his first A's game when he was 6 weeks old. Start them young I say!

Watching baseball on TV isn't nearly as fun as being there in the stadium!! I've only been to one professional game (Yankees) but it was worth it!! They are so much fun!! (It's almost as fun watching the people as the game.) I'm so glad you got to go!

Elder R. looks very happy to be on his mission! I keep looking at all the missionaries faces... one day I might see him!

Vacations and Visiting should always take a backseat to blogging.
