Let me back up--we drove from California to Idaho on Monday. (We had been in California for our granddaughter, Kiah's, college graduation--I will write about it in the next few days. And prior to being in California, I had been in Utah to run the Utah Valley Half Marathon with Heidi and Brent--I can't tell you how fun that was, and I will write about it also)
We took grandsons Drew and Brandon with us. It had been a few years since I had gone a distance with an eight year old in the car. I decided not to count "Are we there yet?" I had to laugh when he took a short nap and asked, "Are we there yet?" When we told him we had a long way to go he said, "I'm going to go to sleep, wake me up when we are there!!!!" No, he didn't sleep long enough!!!! We arrived in Pocatello on Monday night and after grabbing some dinner at Subway, the boys went for a swim and then spent some time in the hot tub.
When they got back to the room, Allan had fallen asleep and was snoring. Drew looked at Brandon and said, "I don't think we're gonna get much sleep tonight!" I couldn't stop laughing.
We didn't have to get up to early the next day. Allan had a Conference Call and the boys went swimming. We had breakfast and then drove to Costco. Heidi and Daniel drove down from Daniel's sister, and the boys drove in from Provo. The three shopping carts were full. We tried to figure out how we were going to get the groceries into the cars--somehow we did it. We had a contest to see who get closest to the amount we spent. Drew won ; )
We then headed to Rexburg to do some more shopping--big question, what were going to do with all the stuff!!!!
We had a little bit of a tough time finding the "cabin"--mainly because there were several cars in front. (It was the cleaning crew. They let us put the perishables away and then we headed for a root beer stand to grab a little something to eat and pass the time.
Got back to the place and put everything away. I think everyone was impressed with the place.
Neal and Macy and the kids arrived--it was so great to see them. The kids grow far too fast!!!!
Amanda and Darren got there a little later. The Utah group were assigned to make dinner the first night and we had pancakes, bacon, fruit and eggs. It was yummy!!!!
The final group to arrive that night were the California group. They had quite a drive. Glad to see them. We knew we had to get up early the next morning because we were going to the Rexburg temple.
