Let's Get Random

*It has been a crazy couple of weeks--actually, it's been a crazy couple of months.

*I am happy to report that I lost another 2 pounds. That means I have lost 14 pounds and have 8 pounds to lose by the time we leave for Hawaii next week. I don't think I'm going to make it, but at least I am in better shape than I was when I started 14 pounds ago.

*I'm trying to stop being so negative and take a lesson from my little husband who is the epitome of positiveness (is that a word???). I don't know ANYONE who is more positive than he is. After 25 years of marriage you'd think more of it would rub off on me ; (

*Life is changing for us as Allan has been forced to take an early retirement. You have to know that even though he will be turning 65 in a couple of months, he is the youngest 65 year old man I know. He's looking forward to having some free time before he gets busy with something else.

*Kiah's albums made it to California and back home. I would not check them on the plane and had to put them in a carry on. I will work on them through the summer but not at a crazy pace.

*I realize I didn't write about Kyle's experience at the Provincial Track Meet. He placed 6th in both the long jump and the triple jump.

*Kyle also played in his piano recital on Sunday night. I felt sad that no one was there to hear him play. His piano teacher said he played very well. (He also played for the Seminary Honor's Night) I gave him the option to not take piano next year and I think he wants to continue. I will love to hear him practicing for another year.
He has also been invited to be part of a jazz combo next year. According to his teacher they will play in a variety of venues throughout the year.

Whew! Okay I made it! Now I can comment!

Way to go on the 14 pounds! That is so awesome! And as far as the positive thing goes, you need to check out my friend Karen's blog. She has a challenge going on to be complaint free for like 15 days or more. Her link is on my blog list. I would post it here but I don't know it!!! SOrry! It's just under Karen.

Great weight loss! You have been working so hard at it too, skipping donuts and chocolate!

I never thought you were negative. You seem very upbeat to me!

So, is it a good thing that things are changing? Mom is trying to retire this coming fall which for me would be great because I can go back to school... and I know she is ready. My parents are 65 and 70 and they still seem young to me. I keep dreading the day that I look at them and see old people. The alternative is much scarier, but I am so close to them it's weird that we're all getting older. Me included! (Yes, I know 38 isn't technically old...)

Have a great evening Yvonne!

Awesome... you are an inspiration with the weight loss Yvonne... I am hangin in there on my plateau... but maybe next week I will see a difference. You already look great, so you will be a hit in Hawaii I am sure. Have loads of FUN!

Congrats on the weight loss. You look great in the pictures from Kiah's graduation.

We just got the e-mail from Allan. I'm sorry. Glad there is Hawaii to distract him a bit and keep him busy.

That's so funny that you say that you are negative because I think you are one of the most positive people I have met.

Way to go on the 14 pounds..it's hard work for sure.

I'll bet it will be nice to have hubby home more.

Your life is so busy... I'm amazed at how well you keep up with everything.

I hope the early retirement turns out to be a good thing for you.

Kyle sounds like a really neat young man. I love listening to my little guy practice the piano. very cool.

Yvonne, seriously, share the secret! What are you doing to lose the weight? I'm so jealous.

I hope that the early retirement turns into a blessing for you and Alan. That would be frustrating though being forced into it.

Congrats on losing 14 pounds! You have done awesome!! :)

I think you are a really positive person! Really one of the most positive people I know. I love reading your blog and comments because they are always so positive. :)

Tell you secrets cause I'm f.a.t. And what it is about missions that do that? I was fine before I went.

It sounds like there are a lot of changes that are going to happen in the future. I wish you guys all the best with what the future has in store! :)

Hooray for you! Hooray for Hawaii!

Congrats on the wonderful weight loss. You will be smokin' in Hawaii.
You have an upbeat attitude about the early retirement. My dad was forced into it and I swear, the world stopped for him and my mom. It took him years to get over it.

jodi: I'm excited to have lost the 14 pounds--even though I won't make my goal by the time we go to Hawaii.

I will have to check out Karen's blog.

annie: Losing weight is not an easy thing for me, but it has definitely been worth it.

Not really a good thing. We are not ready finacially for this kind of a change, but I know that God is mindful of us. Believe me, as I said, Allan is not old ; ) (And I have children older than you, annie ; )

sheila: You have worked so hard with your WW. That is great. I hope you see a difference next week, but if not it will come soon.

macy: Thanks.

I'm glad he has Hawaii to take his mind off of things, too.

tonya: Thank you so much for your kind words.

It will be nice to have Allan home--definitely.

mel: I try to keep up--some days are better than others ; )

We'll see what happens with the early retirement--I don't see him staying at home--I think he will go out and look for something.

Kyle is a great young man.

justrandi: No secret--nothing magic, just cutting out the sweets, too many breads, etc., and lots of exercise.

amanda: Yes, it is very frustrating for him. We'll see what happens.

Thanks--I have appreciated all the words of encouragement with the weight loss.

You are very sweet, amanda. Thank you.

lucy: As I said before, no secret.

melissa: Life gets crazy busy sometimes. Now with Allan home it's a whole lot busier. (I must have really wasted lots of time ; )

We will have a great time and believe me taking pictures is a given.

suzanne: Yes, IT will be hot in Hawaii ; ) but not sure how HOT this mama will be.

Thanks, it's going to take a lot of adjusting.

whitney: Thanks for the tag. Looks like fun. May take awhile.

tori: I'm grateful for that same kind of balance.

Thanks for your encouragement.

annie: Thanks--I'm very excited about Hawaii.

amber: Thanks. If I had the energy you have, a lot more would be gone!

Believe me it takes all my effort to be upbeat. I know how your folks must have felt.

14 lbs is so awesome! You should be so proud! You are one hawt momma!

That is awesome about Kyle! What an all-around guy. I love it!!

14 pounds? WOWEE!!! You should be so proud of yourself! :)

I'm sorry Allan is being forced to take an early retirement. It's always nicer when we get to do things the way WE planned! But I'm sure everything will work out in a good way! :)

I love it when young men play the piano...they get so many opportunities to serve through their music! :)

Yeah for piano players...so proud of the parents who actually accomplish it.
